"Let's stay human": Salis, Sala, Funaro, and Lepore at the pro-Gaza demonstration in Genoa

"Let's stay human." This banner stands out at the pro-Gaza demonstration in Genoa, organized by Music For Peace, the association that, along with other movements, collected food for the Gaza Flotilla departing from Genoa on August 31st, which was greeted by 40,000 people. Candles were lit for the victims of the Gaza massacre in the central Piazza De Ferrari. And from the Palazzo Ducale, where the Ligurian congress of the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI) was held, Genoa Mayor Silvia Salis emerged, along with her colleagues from Milan, Beppe Sala, Florence Mayor Sara Funaro, and Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore, who were present at the ANCI meeting.
At least 4,000 people gathered in Piazza De Ferrari to show their support for the people of Gaza following the Israeli military escalation of the last two days.
Rallyed by all the organizations supporting the Global Sumud Flotilla—primarily CALP and Music For Peace—citizens gathered in the city's main square with Palestinian flags, torches, or simply their cell phone flashlights. In front of the Palazzo Ducale, a banner hung with the words of Vittorio Arrigoni, an activist killed in Gaza, "Let's stay human."
